The Arnot-Roberts Clary Ranch, is a California Syrah, from grapevines planted in 2000 by Paul Clary in sedimentary clay loam soil; Arnot-Roberts produces a rich, spicy red wine from this soil. The 2024 vintage is aromatic and lively on the palate. It offers notes of wild herbs, peppery spices, and dark berries. Rather than full-bodied, it has a medium body; its vibrant acidity and delicate structure lend the wine a lively character and a long, distinct finish.
The 2024 growing season brought a bountiful harvest to Napa Valley, accompanied by uniform ripening.
Fermentation takes place using 100% whole clusters, including the stems, which is where much of the wine's peppery freshness originates. Aging occurs in neutral French oak barrels, ensuring that the aromas of new oak do not overpower the fruit.
Duncan Arnot and Nathan Roberts founded the winery in Healdsburg in 2001, and their approach has remained unchanged: they continue to craft wines with low alcohol content and distinct structure from grapes grown in specific plots. This wine will be at its best between 2027 and 2040. If opening a young bottle, decant it one hour before serving to allow it to breathe.
