The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Tache d’Encre flows across the palate with serious depth. Blackberry jam, black currants, menthol and sweet spices all flesh out in this opulent, full-bodied Cabernet. The 2009 is dark rich and totally inviting, but it also shuts down quickly in the glass, suggesting it needs at least a few more years in bottle to fully come together. There is a lot to like in this outrageously beautiful wine. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029.
Stephane Derenoncourt is best known for his work in St. Emilion, but it is impressive to see him devoting considerable time and attention to his wines in California. Needless to say, it will be very interesting to follow these wines over the coming years
The nose is like a top Cabernet from Diamond Creek. So floral with dried stones and currants. Very aromatic. Balanced and beautiful with a long, long finish. Feminine. Howell Mountain fruit.
