he 2014 Proprietary DB4 showed loads of black cherry, a good bit of wood spice, earth, and a medium to full body. This wine has Pomerol lushness, but also aromatics reminiscent of a great grand cru red Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits. It is perfumed, medium-bodied and beautifully textured and pure.
Blackberry, mushroom and floral aromas follow through to a medium body and firm and round tannins that are tight and focused. A clarity and focus to the wine. Tension and energy.
The 2014 DB4 is an exceptional wine. Dark and mysterious, with silky, polished tannins, the 2014 DB4 will give readers a very good look at the quality level at Bryant this year. Succulent red cherry, plum, flowers, mint and lavender grace the palate in a very pretty, delicate wine endowed with striking purity and finesse. The DB4 may very well be the single greatest value in high-end Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard sites are: Bryant, Madrona Ranch, Thorevilos and Abreu Las Posadas. It just doesn't get better than that. The 2014 probably doesn't have the structure to age for more than a decade or so, but it is absolutely delicious today.
