The best wines from Mazis-Chambertin

Mazis-Chambertin is a Grand Cru vineyard in the Gevrey-Chambertin commune on Burgundy's Cote de Nuits' northern edge. It received Grand Cru designation in 1937, among other Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards. The vineyard is entirely planted with Pinot Noir and the wines produced are noted for their rich, structured character, which often resembles those of the nearby Clos de Beze vineyard.

Mazis-Chambertin is 9.1 hectares and located on the upper slopes of the Cote de Nuits, close to Chambertin and Clos de Beze. The vineyard is divided into two climats: "Les Mazis-Hauts" on top with thin limestone soils and "Les Mazis-Bas" in the bottom with slightly deeper soils. Mazis-Chambertin is surrounded by Premier Cru vineyards, including Les Corbeaux to the north and Cherbaudes and Perriere to the east. The vineyard's south-eastern perspective and continental climate allow the Pinot Noir grapes to reach full ripeness while keeping acidity. The shallow chalky soils provide excellent drainage resulting in high-quality wines.
