La Romanee is located on the hillside above Romanee-Conti, with ideal terroir for Pinot Noir. The terroir features moderately clayey pebbly limestone soils. Unlike most vineyards in the area, La Romanee's vine rows follow the contours of the hill. The vineyard of La Romanee is one of six grand cru locations in Vosne-Romanée and one of only two where Domaine de la Romanee-Conti does not produce wine.
