The 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc from this terrific estate sports a lighter gold hue to go with a beautiful perfume of tart melon and honeyed pineapple, with a kiss of sappy flowers. It's medium-bodied, has a great texture, nicely integrated acidity, and a clean, classy finish. It's another impeccably made white from this team readers will love.
Lovely sense of freshness but it's still quite introverted; promising, however. Full-bodied, lovely sense of generosity, not heaviness. Not as weighty or concentrated as some recent vintages, but the acidity feels naturally balanced and the fresh, mineral touch on the finish bodes well for the future. Remarkable drinkability and finesse, and should age well on its freshness and balance, but drink early too. The Michel family own just 1ha of white varieties and their white is regularly one of the best in the appellation. Malolactic is blocked to help retain freshness and acidity.
Boasting harmonious, honeyed melon and pineapple notes, the 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc—a blend of Clairette and Roussanne—is medium to full-bodied, rounded and expansive on the palate. It exhibits ample concentration, its weight and flesh framed by bright lime notes and a long, plush, elegant finish.
