This is a very small winemaker in the village of Gueux, who has only been producing its own champagne for a couple of years. This is a classic example of Grower Champagne, since his production is extremely limited, and he only produces 3 wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
Gueux is situated just south-west of Reims, and is a very small climat in Petite Montagne de Reims. The (only) 20 hectares of vines are predominantly used for the production of Meunier. Dinvaut shares this terroir with another cult champagne maker, Jérôme Prévost, but has his own method of making wine.
He produces three different wines, one is a Chardonnay Millésimé from both Chardonnay and Meunier, the other two wines are made using a Solera system. This Solera Champagne he offers both as a Chardonnay Pinot Meunier blend, as well as a 100% Pinot Meunier. The wines are of extreme quality and very rustic in their character. Especially the Solera wines are ripe, complex with deep flavour, yet all the wines are beautifully balanced.
