100% Pinot Noir from very old vines growing on yellow chalk (an old river bed). Dosage 1 g/l. Disgorged July 2023.
Autumnal. Golden tobacco leaf, nectarine, pine nut and thyme. A leafy, golden wine with a fine, fine mousse and white-pepper spice on the end. It's gauzy, like a cashmere scarf held to the wind. Silk and gossamer. Transparent. (TC)
The 2019 Extra Brut Les Epinettes Grand Cru Verzy is pure Pinot Noir from the eponymous parcel in Verzy, planted in 1973. Waxy apple peel and salty shortcrust announce the Pinot nature of the wine, highlighted by lemon and a salty sea breeze. This saltiness pervades the entire wine, with its rounded body, shortcrust richness and plum skin texture that has the most enticing sense of bitterness. The 2018 is rounded, creamy and smooth with a deep well of saltiness. Gorgeous and so gastronomic. Disgorged: July, 2023. - Anne Krebiehl MW
