The domaine's efforts to protect the 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées were quite successful, so the yield this year is the same as in 2020. Bursting with notions of raspberries and plums mingled with orange zest, spices and petals, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with powdery tannins, bright acids and a melting finish.
One of the fuller red purple colours. A most engaging expansive deep cherry fruit. This is close to its magical best, with a volume of fruit which for me sits just right. Obviously less than in the recent rich vintages, but definitely enough! And an excellent fresh mineral note through the finish, not the burned stone style of the hot dry years
