The 2010 Clos de Vougeot is delicate and even a touch fragile. Sweet red berries, crushed flowers, mint and minerals are some of the notes that emerge from the glass. This is a typical, intense Clos Vougeot that needs time for the tannins to soften. The 2010 impresses for its pure energy and grace. Here, too, the tannins are firm, yet also exceptionally polished. Charlopin did less pigeage (punchdowns) here with the goal of keeping the tannins soft. It certainly looks like he succeeded. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.
