The Bruichladdich, “Yellow Submarine” [Reclassified] is a new release in the range of the cult classics of the WMD series (Whisky of Mass Distinction) where the second release featured the iconic yellow submarine on the label. This new limited release is in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Bruichladdich distillery, and this is where the Yellow Submarine still proudly stands on its distillery grounds today.
This NV whisky from Bruichladdich, located on the west coast of the Isle of Islay, which is aged for 14 years is shaped by the changes occurring in the cellars. Over the course of 14 years, the Atlantic climate affected the barrels, salty air permeated through the warehouse with layers of barrels, and the spirit and oak wood slowly interacted with one another. The result is a whisky that, unlike rich varieties such as “Port Charlotte” or “Octomore,” belongs to the core “Bruichladdich” style with a less pronounced peaty aroma. Expect the melon, butterscotch, and citrus notes characteristic of this distillery. Thanks to over 10 years of aging in the sea breeze, its flavor has gained even greater depth. This is a smoother and rounder Islay single malt whisky. The fact that the smokiness doesn’t take center stage is the main reason to choose this particular bottle over its sister brands with a more pronounced peaty aroma.
