This has good stuffing, with engaging plum, cassis and blackberry coulis flavors at the core, holding steady through the anise-studded finish, accented by hints of charcoal and violet. Reveals a pebbly accent at the very end, keeping this grounded.
Sweet, vanilla-laced cassis. Big, rich, spicy. A burly, honest wine – but even with the stay-away-from-me tannins, it has reasonable harmony and promise, though it needs to flesh out in the middle.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
Delicate floral notes underlie black forest berry compote, a hint of cassis, and subtle tobacco nuances. Elegant, extract-sweet, delicately fruity, with very well-integrated tannins, a refined acidity, ripe fruit on the finish, and excellent aging potential.
