Der Jahrgang 2015 in Bordeaux war eines jener Jahre, in denen das rechte Ufer mehr oder weniger die Oberhand hatte. Dank eines warmen, trockenen Sommers und zeitlich gut abgestimmter Regenfälle im August herrschten ideale Bedingungen für die Merlot-Trauben auf dem Plateau von Pomerol, sodass sie vollständig reifen konnten, ohne ihre Frische zu verlieren. Am Château Gazin führte dies zu vollmundigen und raffinierten Weinen, die sich durch ein reichhaltiges Geschmacksprofil auszeichnen und gleichzeitig über die für Pomerol-Weine charakteristische Struktur verfügen, die für die Reifung notwendig ist. Im Vergleich zu früheren kühlen Jahrgängen wie 2013 und 2014 ist ein intensiverer und kraftvollerer Stil zu erwarten.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Gazin is scented of baked plums, Christmas cake, mincemeat and plum preserves with hints of chocolate box, coffee, tapenade and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied with mouth-filling baked berries and savory layers, it has firm, chewy tannins and a long finish.

Plush and warm, with fig, boysenberry and blackberry confiture notes inlaid with light charcoal, black tea and fruitcake hints. The fleshy finish lets the charcoal element lead the way. Best from 2022 through 2032.

Lots of cedar, tea-leaf and hazelnut character and ripe fruit aromas. Citrus peel, too. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Smoky undertone. This is structured and so complex. Drink in 2023.
Vinous (92)
The 2015 Gazin has a more floral bouquet compared to its Pomerol peers. This is fresh and vital with black truffle-infused red fruit and a dab of fresh tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and a mixture of red and black fruit. This is still resolutely classical in style with commendable sapidity toward the finish. This is a Gazin that I have admired for many years…and I still do. NB The bottle served blind at Farr's tasting did not exhibit the same lustre of vibrancy.
