The 2024 growing season in Côte de Beaune was one of the most challenging in recent years. A rainy spring increased the risk of downy mildew, and cool weather delayed ripening, resulting in a later-than-usual harvest. Yields were lower throughout the Meursault region. For Vincent Girardin's "Charmes-Dessus" wine, this meant stricter selection on the sorting line, resulting not in the rich wine with notes of hazelnut for which this village is famous in warm years, but rather a more restrained and crisp wine, characteristic of Meursault. The 2024 vintage of "Charmes-Dessus" is expected to be marked by a predominance of acidity and salinity, while the typical Meursault body will be more subdued. Éric Germain’s team spared no effort to make the most of the conditions this vintage had to offer. The optimal drinking window is from 2026 to 2036, with the wine reaching its peak maturity in the middle of this period.
