The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is excellent, offering up aromas of stone fruits, pear, pastry cream, white flowers and fresh croissants, followed by a full-bodied, rich and textural palate, with a broad attack that segues into a layered, multidimensional palate. Powerful and broad shouldered, but nicely balanced, this is a compelling wine from Sauzet.
Cask sample. Very attractive. Stony characters allied with some peach fruit. Lovely purity here. Complex, zesty, mineral notes to finish. Top-end Puligny.
Clear pale lemon. Not finding very much at first on the nose. Clear white fruit at the front of the palate, drier at the finish, this does not have quite the same equilibrium as Champ Canet and En La Richarde. Certainly, rather hidden at the moment.
