The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cardeuse Rouge wafts from the glass with notions of orange zest, red berries, rose petals, plums and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a satiny attack, racy acids and melting tannins, it concludes with impressive persistence.
The colour is a bit more solid here. Deep cherry and raspberry, with purity. No stems this year but 40% next. This has still got the Morgeot muscles behind but there is a class to the fruit which bounds back effortlessly afterwards. Very promising.
