There are just over three barrels of the extraordinary 2018 Musigny Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) this year, a magical wine in the making that unwinds in the glass with a stunning bouquet of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, rose petals, violets and deep soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and complete, with an elegantly muscular and multidimensional core, lively acids and a long, intensely sapid finish.
Rich concentrated red fruit, huge power here. The fruit is certainly very ripe but not overblown. Indeed the alcohol is not that high at13.6%. What a mouthful of deep ripe cherries, dark plums, chocolate notes. Is it quite majestic? I think so, if less explosive than the Amoureuses. Certainly a rich and weighty Musigny.
