The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Encegnières has a detailed nose with hints of hazelnut and light orange pith, gradually gaining complexity as it opens in the glass. The well-balanced palate has a fine bead of acidity, which is quite taut at first, then develops more peppery/spicy notes of lemongrass and stem ginger towards the finish. Its approachability means it should be ready to drink after 2-3 years.
Not too pronounced in colour, and with a striking elegance of bouquet. Then a bit of bacon fat emerges as well, Complex, classy, interesting. A lovely thread of mineral acidity through the middle and the fruit keeps returning in a lively fashion. Super wine! Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted Oct 2023.
