From a site adjacent to Beckstoffer's Georges III, Heitz's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard is a strong effort, boasting ample cedar, ripe cherries, gentle herbal complexities (think bay leaf and sage) and a delicate dusty-earth character. It's medium- to full-bodied and silky in texture, with a long finish lined by fine-grained tannins wrapped around a core of crisp acidity.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard is creamy, ample and super-expressive. Silky and lifted, with gorgeous fruit purity, the 2019 is so attractive. Readers will find an open-knit, sensual Cabernet that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Dried herbs, bay leaf, sage, mint and leather add closing shades of nuance. Silky tannins make this very approachable today. The 2019 spent nine months in upright tanks, followed by 36 months in cask.
