This seven-acre site, planted in 2002, has yielded an excellent 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Linda Falls Vineyard. Intense cassis notes mark the nose of this black-fruited, inky-flavored wine. It's medium- to full-bodied and firm but already drinkable, with a crisp, lingering finish that hints at star anise and loamy earth.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Linda Falls Vineyard is the most impressive of the single-vineyard Cabernets from Heitz. Striking inner perfume and vertical structure give the 2019 so much allure. This drop-dead gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon explodes with Howell Mountain intensity allied to a palpable sense of classicism. The Linda Falls is a real standout.
Pretty and focused, laced with bright acidity. Aromas of cherry and blackberry fruit mingle with crushed cocoa nibs, violets and rose petals. The palate builds with great intensity, juicy acids and a host of warm, spiced red and black fruit, along with fresh floral nuances. Soaring yet refined tannins lead to a long finish marked by salty mineral tension.
