This dry wine, Riesling, made from grapes harvested at the Reiterpfad vineyard in the Pfalz region, is bottled by Dr. Bürklin-Wolf under the Grand Cru brand and is made from 100% Riesling grapes.
Although the summer of 2022 was hot and dry, early rainfall in the September region of Pfalz created ideal conditions for the harvest. This moment is reflected in the glass. Aromas of limestone and rich minerality are complemented by nuances of citrus and orchard fruits, giving way to a crisp, elegant palate.
Fermentation took place naturally in large neutral oak barrels, allowing the fruitiness and the vineyard's character to take center stage rather than the flavor of the wood.
This winery operates based on its own plot classification system, Cru Classe, and this wine is certified vegan.
It can be enjoyed immediately after decanting, though its firmness will soften with time. It is best enjoyed by 2048.

The 2022 Reiterpfad G.C. is another picture-book wine from the red sandstone soils in this village, but here the mineral and iodine-inflected nose intermingles with an intense and finely flinty aroma of ripe yellow apples, quinces and mandarin rind. The wine is full-bodied, round and lush on the palate, very elegant, saline and quite generous, with a saline and still-bitter finish with fine tannins and tart citric notes. The finish is long and complex but needs some time to open up. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

Stillness at dawn as there is still dew on the vegetation. The last flowers of the summer and the first fully ripe fruits of the autumn. Stunning interplay of flinty minerality, restrained citrusy fruit and very elegant acidity. Such a graceful finish that glides off in the direction of the distant horizon. Wild-fermented in large neutral oak. Vegan. Drink or hold.

Pretty aromas of citrus and stone fruit. A pronounced and racy acidity marks the palate; fruit is little more than an afterthought. The challenging contours are drawn thickly in dark volcanic stone, and time needs to fill in the colour in the middle. While this lacks the inner quiet of Hohenmorgen and Langenmorgen, it might just have the longer life.
