The year 2023 was warm in the Valais, and dry weather persisted for a long time toward the end of the year. This created favorable conditions for the white wine produced from grapes harvested on plots where Marie-Thérèse Chappaz practices biodynamic agriculture. As a result, the “Assemblage Blanc 2023” features a balanced flavor profile with ripe fruit notes and well-preserved acidity. This is precisely the flavor that Chappaz has strived to achieve over the decades while working on these steep Alpine terraces. Compared to the cooler vintages of recent years, you can expect a rounder and more full-bodied style. The wine can be enjoyed now or over the next 10ish years.
The brightly colored 2023 Assemblage Blanc cœur d'Arvine, fleur de Sylvaner, ordeur d'Ermitage blends Sylvaner from Chamoson with Roussanne and Petite Arvine from Fully, cultivated in three different vineyards in conversion to organic viticulture. The wine shows a complete, round, open-hearted bouquet of ripe white fruits and flowers intertwined with flinty nuances and evens salts. Round, mouthfillingly juicy and very elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied and substantial, textured and refined assemblage with a long, intense, very elegant and balanced finish. This is an excellent white to have with food. 13.6% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Fully, March 2025.
