The 1982 Banyuls from Domaine du Duy, of which 15% is blended with 7-year old fruit, has a youthful colour. The nose is very seductive with mulberry, clove, furniture polish and Chinese 5-spice, all nicely defined. The palate is harmonious and smooth in the mouth, the acidity well judged and the younger fruit lending weight and persistence. Red plums, orange peel, white pepper and hints of liquorices combine extremely well and the finish feels very assured. This comes highly recommended.
