The 2024 vintage Predicador Blanco, a barrel-fermented white Rioja from Benjamin Romeo, is made by blending 35% Viura, 35% Malvasía Riojana, and 30% Garnacha Blanca.
Only 9,000 bottles of this wine were produced. Spring frosts, mildew pressure, and summer heat all reduced the harvest yield, while the excellent quality of the September grapes provided the necessary finishing touch to the fruit. While the summer itself was dry and warm, there were no heat waves, and nighttime temperatures remained relatively cool, a crucial factor for producing white wine in such a warm region.
Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels (30% of which are new), followed by approximately nine months of aging. The result is a wine with notes of orchard fruit, white flowers, and subtle spices, distinctly complemented by oak.
It is best enjoyed through 2032. Decant the wine for about 30 minutes.
