The 2018 Bourgogne Blanc is drinking beautifully, offering up aromas of pear, blanched almond, white flowers and hazelnut, followed by a medium-bodied, satiny and precise palate that's impressively vibrant and concentrated in this sometimes flabby and open-knit vintage.
Pale greenish straw. Relatively tight but without aggressively struck-match aroma, though the lightish aroma is beguilingly blossomy. And quite a lot of obvious ripe fruit underneath with a hint of liquorice. Leaner than the Danbury Ridge, Octagon Block Chardonnay 2022 from Essex served alongside. Neat and well behaved. (JR)
Pretty aromas are comprised by spiced apple compote and citrus confit. The delicious, intense and solidly dense middle weight flavors exude a bracing salinity on the beautifully complex and lingering finish. This is a terrific Bourgogne and absolutely recommended.
The grapes come from around the winery, supplemented by purchased grapes from the same area. Only in 2016 were they obliged to look further afield. Lean and tense and a little bit nutty, with that little touch of almond to finish. A very classical upscale Bourgogne Blanc.
