Professional reviews

James Suckling (90)

Blackcurrant, ripe plum and cedar character to this red on the nose, before giving way to a full to medium body, refined yet firm tannins and good acidity.

Jancis Robinson (16)

Tasted blind. Savoury and evolved nose. Polished tannins with a suggestion of oak and sweetness on the palate. Easy-peasy, user-friendly. (JR)

Rene Gabriel (17)

Rich purple garnet, dense in the center, with a purple shimmer on the outside. A mineral bouquet, subtle turpentine notes and traces of truffle, with ripe plums behind them. On the palate, it's surprisingly full-bodied with rounded tannins; the tannins are subtly floury in the extract and support the body. This will be—as so often in recent years—a very good Saint Julien.

Falstaff (91)

Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate brightening of the rim, fresh cassis, blackberry confit, a hint of precious wood, nougat undertones, and tobacco notes. Medium-bodied, red berry fruit, fresh structure, minerality, lively style, with some length.

Wine Enthusiast (94)

This is a solid effort that showcases both great blackberry fruit and sweet tannins right at the forefront. There is also fine acidity and a layer of wood that gives a dry, firm, age-worthy aftertaste.
