Robert Parker (91)

The 2005 Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey offer apricot, fig jam and touch of almond on the focused bouquet, grilled walnut coming through later. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, quite structured and almost austere in comparison with other vintages. There is good tension here, vibrant and citric with impressive mineralité towards the finish. This has great potential.

Winespectator (92)

There's beautiful ripe fruit in this, with pineapple, mango and papaya and hints of vanilla and honey. Full-bodied and medium sweet. Rich and round, with loads of cooked apple, citrus peel and spices. Long and flavorful. Dense and rich.

Jancis Robinson (17)

Tasted blind. Mid copper. Very sweet start. Flattering and rich. Clean and direct. Dense. (JR)

Vinous (94)

The 2005 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a slightly waxy bouquet with dried honey, fig and light petrol scents. Fine delineation. The palate has a very well balanced entry and plenty of botrytis in situ, with a tangy, stem ginger- and lemongrass-infused finish that lingers in the mouth. This was impressive several years ago but has gone up another level. Superb. Tasted at the 2005 Sauternes horizontal held at Château Coutet.
