Boar's View
Boars' View vineyard was established in 2007 and covers nearly 6 hectares in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. The vines were planted in 2008, matching the soil to the clones and creating the optimal conditions for growth: 5 hectares was planted with Pinot Noir and 2 hectares of Chardonnay. Yields are low, harvest is done by hand resulting in expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Boars' View is located in the 'True' Sonoma Coast, where temperate maritime conditions provide natural cooling during summer and winter. It is one of the few vineyards in this remarkable area and is committed to producing Pinot Noir of the highest quality.
Winemaker Thomas Brown, an expert in Burgundian wines, was captivated by the natural potential of Boars' View from the start. He was involved in all aspects of site planning, allowing him to integrate his vineyard to winemaking knowledge seamlessly. Following a soil and climate assessment, Thomas and Vineyard Manager Ulises Valdez hand-selected complementary grape clones to optimize the unique soil composition and warmer temperatures of the location. These include a mix of California heritage varieties renowned for their robust fruit flavors and muscular structure, such as Calera, Mt. Eden, and Swan clone Pinot Noirs and Wente clone for Chardonnay.
Boar's View wines receive high ratings from amongst other Robert Parker and Wine Spectator.
