Rich and sweet but balanced – miraculously!
(Au Bon Climat, Hildegard, Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley, California, USA, White) This Pinot-based blend shows an exoticism not apparent in the winery's Chardonnays. There are some tropical fruit aromas of bananas as well as herbs and a dash of spice. Supple and rounded, it's already quite fleshy. It's concentrated with a peppery aftertaste, and the acidity gives a long, creamy finish. (Drink between 2022-2028)
Au Bon Climat Hildegard 2019 is a blend of 55% Pinot Gris, 40% Pinot Blanc and 5% Aligote as a revival to the fabled composition of the Corton vineyard in Medieval times by Hildegard Empress by marriage to Charlemagne.
