Dolcetto d’Alba
The vineyards of Dolcetto d’Alba are situated in the hills of the Langhe region of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy. These vineyards surround the town of Alba, where a continental climate with warm summers and cool nights allows the Dolcetto grape to develop its fruity character with a nice freshness. The terroir is rich in limestone and clay and offers a beautiful minerality.
Dolcetto d’Alba is known for its deep purple color and aromas of black cherry, plum, and violet, in some cases with licorice and almond. Unlike many Piedmontese wines, Dolcetto is low in acidity but has firm tannins, giving it a structured mouthfeel. It is produced in an easy-drinking style, with soft tannins and a pleasantly dry finish.
While it is usually enjoyed young, some wines can age to develop greater depth.
