Royal Tokaji

The Royal Tokaji Wine Company was founded in 1990, with Hugh Johnson as one of its principal co-founders, aiming to revive the historic wines of Tokaj after the fall of communism. The winery focuses on Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Muscat varieties, producing both dry whites and the region’s signature Tokaji Aszú wines. Its vineyards include top-rated first-growth classified sites from the historic 1737 Tokaj classification, such as Mézes Mály. Royal Tokaji Aszú wines are known for botrytized richness balanced by high acidity, and the estate has consistently received strong critical ratings from Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and Decanter.
