Cask sample. Sweet spices, black cherry, fine tannins, bright acid and a charming farmy sort of character in the background. Perfectly clean, just showing a sort of earthy terroir that is entirely fitting.
Every time we open a Combottes of George Lignier we are very surpised by the sheer quailty and the fact that this wine isn't sold out. High quailty wine for such a modest price.
From three plots in the lower part, an early ripening spot so this is the second wine to be picked, after Clos St Denis. Soft and rounded with a good weight of fruit behind, the oak is in balance. Good length too. Benoît says he has never had a bad Combottes from any producer. Ripe cherries here
