Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Pommard 1er Cru Les Croix Noires ’11 from Louis Boillot has a dusty bouquet with broody black fruit: touches of damp moss and plenty of stem addition. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a crisp line of acidity and a precise, citrus-fresh finish that is not complex, but focused and tense. This is a traditional style of Burgundy, one that is well crafted if not top-tier.
Dense and a bit dry but all tucked in for the future. A tad harsh at the moment.
