The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Cherbaudes has a focused, again quite mineral-driven bouquet, although this is little more opaque compared to the Champonnet at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe tannins: black cherries, raspberry and strawberry with fine cohesion and substance on the finish. This is another impressive Gevrey from Louis Boillot this year.
?Interestingly this is much more floral than the Champonnets with notes of rose petal, violet and lilac along with an airy array of both red and dark currant, earth and underbrush aromas. There is excellent richness to the full-bodied, intense and muscular medium weight plus flavors that possess very fine power and only a touch of backend rusticity on the mouth coating and impressively long finish. This will need time to fully unwind but it should be more than worth the wait.
