Old vines which ripen quickly picked first. The colour is a deep purple, but the aromatics are classy and balanced at first sniff, a little ripe behind. Nonetheless, the class of this great terroir shows through. Plenty of energy, this is the lightest on its feet and best balanced of the cellar, and certainly with the longest finish. Lovely energetic fresher red fruit to finish
Once again, the pure and cool nose is quite restrained, indeed it requires considerable swirling to reveal the more sauvage-inflected nose of red and dark cherry, soil tones and a whiff of violet. There is excellent delineation to the mineral-driven medium weight flavors that also brim with minerality on the balanced, harmonious and austere finale. This too needs to add depth to merit my rating but with at least some patience, it should develop.
