The 2011 Le Corton Grand Cru was picked on 2nd September at 23.36hl/ha. It has a fragrant bouquet, perhaps the most refined since Aubert de Villaine and his team took guardianship of the vineyard. Leaving the wine to unfurl over ten minutes, there are subtle ferrous notes that surface with passing moments, hints of wild mushroom infusing the brambly red fruit. The palate is crisp on the entry with hints of bitter cherry and a touch of white pepper. The tannins are quite stern here, lending this more masculinity compared to the previous two vintages. The finish is conservative and linear with superb length, completing what is a very fine, upstanding Corton. 460 cases produced.
