A fresh and decidedly earthy nose is comprised by notes of mostly red berries and a whiff of the sauvage. There is both a lovely sense of underlying tension and fine detail to the delicious middleweight flavors that culminate in a youthfully austere and slightly lean finish. It's hard to say with certainty whether the leanness is accentuated by the recent bottling so this may flesh out with a few years of cellaring
20 barrels instead of 50+. Palish red to crimson with a light breadstick volatility on the nose. Then some deeper dark red fruit starts to emerge. A little oak sweetness on the palate. A medium bodied Pommard without quite its usual éclat this year.
