The French winery Joseph Drouhin is an established producer in Burgundy. The winery has been producing beautiful wines since 1880 and the fourth generation is now at the helm. Joseph Drouhin's vineyards are spread over several regions: Chablis, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Nuits and Beaujolais. They all vary in style and have their own authenticity.
All of the plots in Joseph Drouhin’s posession are processed in a biological and biodynamic way. Everything revolves around respect for nature and the vine. That is why only natural products are used. The planting consists of the classic Burgundy grape varieties: chardonnay, pinot noir and gamay.
Véronique Drouhin is the winemaker and takes care of all of the wines. Her brother Philippe takes care of the vineyard management. Together with Frédéric Drouhin, they are responsible for the day-to-day running, and the success of the winery. The Joseph Drouhin portfolio consists of wines intended to be drunk young, but also wines that only get better over time, with good aging potential. Some grand cru wines are Clos de la Roche, Corton, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, Bonnes Mares, Chablis Vaudésir. This is just a small selection from the entire range! Each and every one is a high-quality wine!
Traditional vinification methods are principal in the cellar. Temperature-controlled fermentation and French oak barrels are used for both the fermentation and the maturation process. The maturation period depends on the appellation, the vintage and the style. The underground wine cellar contains long corridors, where you can visit and have a tasting.
In June 2023, it was announced that la Maison Joseph Drouhin had bought two domains in Burgundy. Château de Chasselas in Saint-Véran and Domaine Rapet in Saint-Romain. As a result, Drouhin now owns a total of 60 appellations across 103 hectares.
Château de Chasselas will be converted into a hotel which is expected to open its doors in 2025.
