BOW (90.5)
Official Tasting Notes:
COLOR: mahogany
AROMA: Sweet and nutty with notes of manuka honey and maple syrup, combined with pralines and grilled hazelnuts, combined with rich aromas of freshly tanned leather, cigar tobacco, licorice root, dried thyme and heather flowers.
TASTE: Noble and elegant sherry melts with raw Islay peat, while dark bitter chocolate, black pepper and caramel sauce combine with vanilla and coffee beans; Morello cherries and a hint of papaya create a fruity flair.
AFTERKLANG: Warm, sweet and spicy, with notes of oak, chestnut cream and coconut.
OTHER (88)
words of whisky:
Nose: Clear-cut Bowmore, which means tropical notes and gentle peat. Walnuts and hazelnuts with tinned pineapple, subtle bonfire smoke and mango. There are touches of honey, cigar boxes and sage as well.
Taste: Great creamy texture with plenty of brine, a friendly peatiness and some black pepper. There are smoked barley husks and dark chocolate, as well as coffee beans and soft notes of jammy fruits followed by bitter grapefruit.
Finish: Lingering spices, honey and coastal peat. Long.
A beautiful whisky that highlights much of what makes Bowmore such an intriguing liquid. The Bowmore 21 Years Aston Martin Masters' Selection is not a sherry bomb, but balances the cask influence rather well with the spirit quality.
