Medium magenta in the glass, the 2021 Tempranillo Walla Walla Valley is the winner of this year’s range, offering expressive and classic aromas of sour plum, dusty cherry skin, turned earth, lavender and graphite with soft supporting notes of French baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is balanced, fresh and food-friendly, offering fruit flavors of dried strawberries, black raspberry skin and a subtle notion of bitter dark chocolate. The Tempranillo continues to evolve over the long-lingering finish, enticing me to finish the glass. The Tempranillo aged 21 months in approximately 25% new French oak. Nicely done. Almost 3,700 bottles were filled.
Bramble berry fruit, roasted meat, sun-dried tomatoes and paprika on the nose. It’s spicy with an umami complexity and salty freshness. Lots of flavor packed into a medium body. Nicely integrated with juicy tannins. From biodynamically grown grapes. Delicious now but can hold
A sweet Cavendish tobacco scent fills the air with the first sniff of the glass, followed by aromas of raspberry jam on whole-wheat toast. Burly tannins and a healthy amount of acidity escort flavors like cassis, dark plum, smoked brisket and a hint of orange pith. What a treat.
