The 1975 Rivesaltes does not offer as much on the nose as the 1985. It is much more oxidative in style, and I would have liked a bit more vigour. The palate is better than the aromatics, with honey, marmalade, fig jam and honeycomb, all well defined with a subtle tang towards the persistent finish. This improves with aeration, the aromatics just opening up a little, but overall I still err towards the '85.
