The 1988 Phelan-Segur is lighter than the 1989, but is still a textbook example of a St.-Estephe. A toasty, black currant-scented bouquet is followed by a medium-bodied wine with fine balance and length.

Very good. A dark-colored, thick and chewy Bordeaux, with ample berry and currant flavors that linger on the finish. Balanced and structured.
