This has a complex nose with ginger, ripe fruit, the palate is medium to full bodied, very vibrant, cohesive with a pleasant textural element, with nerve but also an underlying expressive side. THis is will evolve well in bottle. Drink now or hold.
Harvest 23 September. TA 8 g/l, RS 2 g/l so much drier than the 2015 tasted alongside!
So youthful and unformed! Grape juice rather than wine. Jancis Robinson
The 2025 Riesling Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Grosses Gewächs is from vines that share a birth year with Helmut Dönnhoff, i.e. 1949. They are rooted in shale. Only very slight flint accompanies the luminous lemon that becomes even more concentrated and clean-cut on the stony palate. This is utter zestiness, like a well of freshness, a source of light, a measure of purity and clarity. It is ultra-crystalline, ultra-straight, ultra-steely, ultra-delicious. (Bone-dry)
AP: 30 26. The Hermannshöhle Riesling 2025 -GG-, as it is referred to on the consumer label, delivers a superbly complex and intense nose of yellow flowers, whipped cream, almond, cinnamon, nutmeg, and acacia. The wine starts off with a beautiful creamy and delicately floral side, before gaining in structure and presence as it unfolds. The finish has grip, energy, and plenty of spices, and the length is stunning. This is a great Hermannshöhle in the making!
