This unbelievable dry white wine is a riesling, but first and foremost it is extremely dense and imposing, with great ripe stone fruit flavors, then the gigantic wet-stone minerality charges through. Very limited production. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

The 2024 Riesling Dhroner Hofberger Réserve was made from a special selection of 75-year-old vines, made in half new, half second-use Stockinger 600-liter barrels. Creamy hazelnut on the nose denotes the oak, underneath, lemony brightness and stone fruit notes come together on the svelte palate. The midpalate presents apricot and white peach aromas, but the stony reverberations take center stage. It trembles with stone, only slightly softened by oak and fruit. What lovely precision, what an uncompromising but alluring 2024. (Bone-dry)
