The 1989 Riesling Clos Ste Hune Vendanges Tardives is the only VT that has been produced under this name "because it just happened,“ says Jean Trimbach, adding that no other, dry clos was produced that year. The golden-yellow colored wine shows a precise and concentrated nose of ripe mirabelles. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich, very generous yet precise and elegant wine with great expression, mineral tension and fine tannins. It is an impressive, ageless, gorgeously refined and elegant Clos Sainte Hune with an extraordinarily long and aromatic finish. This has 14% stated alcohol with no more than 17.5 grams per liter of residual sugar and 6.4 grams per liter of total acidity. Tasted Jan 2025.
Imagine a mountain stream rushing over pebbles between banks of flowers and wild herbs. This intense, concentrated wine is fresh and clean, with wonderful aromas and outstanding flavors, still tightly wound even as it edges into maturity.
Full bottle 1,269 g.
Deep greenish gold. Super-intense mature Riesling with light syrupiness on palate entry and then real riches underneath. Long and throbbing on the palate. Pure super-ripe Riesling. Long and subtle. (JR) Tasted Feb 2025.
