Robert Parker (87)

Medium brick-brown in color, the 1983 Hill of Grace gives aromas that are a bit horsey / barnyard with a pleasant muskiness over an appealing core of dried fruits and preserved meat. Medium-bodied and a bit bony / hard in the mouth, it has firm acid and a medium level of chewy tannins through the long finish. It is mature.

James Suckling (94)

Very good vintage. A growing season of much drama including heat, drought, hail and fire, the wine has sailed through remarkably well, some leafy edges, paprika, pepper, savoury dried spices and red plum fruits. The palate's fine tannins drive smooth and even, lithe and elegant, yet a really sturdy Hill of Grace style here, maturing well, still taut, all here, more to come.
