The 1973 Rivesaltes has quite a spirituous nose, perhaps too much for my liking as it partially occludes the fruit profile. I would swear this is a Madeira if I had it blind. The palate is medium-bodied, harmonious and quite tangy with a viscous opening, marmalade and quince notes and a dash of chilli on the finish. If you can abide that feisty nose, this is delicious.
