Vinous (95)

The 1964 Rivesaltes is slightly deeper in hue, indicating that it contains a bit more Grenache Noir. The aromatics are wonderfully lively and focused with superbly delineated marmalade, quince and a very slight rancio quality. The palate is well balanced with a touch of liquorice on the entry, marmalade, stewed apricot, hints of yellow plum and orange rind. Very harmonious and persistent on the finish, Rivesaltes does not get better than this fabulous fortified.
