The 2023 vintage Grenache Noir from David & Nadia, was harvested early, before the rains arrived, and is a pale red wine made from old bush vines in the Swartland region.
In the glass, aromas of wild strawberries and dried raspberries mingle with pink peppercorns, and as the wine breathes, a savoury, iron-like edge gradually becomes more pronounced. The tannins are delicate and smooth. Opinions on the body are mixed. While some describe this wine as lean and vertical, others characterize it as medium-bodied; either way, it feels light on its feet.
It was gently extracted through early oxygen exposure during fermentation, a method used by several top producers in the Swartland region to enhance texture without adding heaviness. This Grenache was made to prioritize freshness over intensity. It is best enjoyed through 2036.
