2020 was a difficult year for California. Much of the state faced a constant threat of wildfires and smoke. The UV Vineyard, quietly nestled in Sonoma’s West County near the Pacific Ocean, is blessed with a cool, foggy climate that helped preserve the freshness of the Chardonnay grapes. “Carte Blanche's 2020 UV Vineyard Chardonnay” is a wine that reflects the characteristics of this cool region. It is bright and refreshing, with acidity taking precedence over body. Winemaker Helen Keplinger kept the influence of oak barrels minimal to highlight the vineyard’s individuality. Compared to Chardonnay from the warmer Napa Valley, this wine has a cleaner flavor.
